Press On and Leaning Upon

June 4, 2005

Here we are! We are officially on the road. I am currently writing this from a hotel in South Carolina on our way to Alabama to minister. We are excited and the Lord has our hearts full of anticipation for what lies ahead. We are certainly pressing on. As Paul says, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” Phil. 3:13,14 . It has been a hard journey over the last number of months, but as we have been faithful to press on, God has been faithful to empower and carry us forward. He is our prize. This pressing on has been the necessary thing. Laying down the past, leaning upon His grace, and laying a hold of the prize. One of our staff has walked a hard road over the past year. Her father and brother have been at war, she has been searching for her call, her mother has traversed medical issues, and it has been rough. I was just reading an entry on her web log and was reminded of this very issue. She has pressed on and is now learning to lean upon God and others around us. Life changes, God never changes. People come and go, God always stays. People fail us, God never leaves us nor forsakes us. Don’t let what lies behind you to bind you up, but lean upon God and press on for the prize in Christ Jesus!

Abiding,
Scott and Lisa
