Sick Puppies

August 16, 2008

What is the gift the Lord has given you?

My brother and sister tell me that I have this habit of petting sick puppies and they follow me home.  What they are referring to is that I have always had a fair number of needy people in my collection of fiends.  There has always been this ability in my life to see people as God calls them not as they are in the moment.  At times it has cost me, at others it has been amazing.  I love seeing God take someone who has had the odds stacked against them or that others have written off and see God use them in powerful ways.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  Partly because I am one myself (a sick puppy), but mostly because I feel like it’s Jesus.  He had the disciples, the sick and oppressed, the tax collectors and sinners.  Those are the ones that He used to change the world.

Take those things that are just the way you are wired and begin to see how God wants to use them for His glory!  You greatest weakness can become your ministry in Christ!

    so I guess I’m a sick puppy too 🙂

  3. And I have always said that with the greatest love and respect for you.

    Really.

I know God has gifted you–among MANY other things!–with the ability to love people who others don’t want to be bothered with.

But hey, we are all sick puppies in our own special way. 😉
Love you and am proud to be your big sis.

I will say this: keep in mind that you’re always someone else’s sick puppy… God brings people into our lives so that we can be father/mother figures to them so that we can lead them to the Father.

  7. Don’t get me wrong gang! I am the most sick one of them all! My point was that we all are wired in different ways and the Lord wants to use those things to move mightily in the earth!

    I Love You ALL! 🙂

No gettin’ you wrong here. I know your heart, Scott, and as long as you stay focused on Christ, preach the Gospel, and register Republican, you’ll be a-OK in my book… P
