Important Family Update

October 29, 2010

There has been quite a lot going on with us over the last month or so and I wanted to update you on what God is doing.   The short of the story is that in January we will be rolling off staff at Eagle’s Nest Fellowship in Milton, DE and rolling on staff at Liberty Christian Fellowship in Kill Devil Hills, NC.

The longer story begins about 6 weeks ago.  In September, my dad, John Hobbs, called and said that he and the elders of Liberty would like for me to pray about filling a pastoral role at the church that would involve leading worship and oversight of ministry leaders.  I told him that he would need to call Bob, my pastor, and talk with him since the Lord had sent us to Eagle’s Nest to serve under his leadership.  Over the next several weeks, Pastor Bob, my dad, and myself talked and prayed to seek direction from the Lord.  3 weeks later, Pastor Bob and I sat down and both really felt that the hand of the Lord was leading us to make this transition.  Over that week, we met with the staff, key leaders, and the worship department to share what we felt the Lord was leading us to do.  On Sunday, October 17th we announced it to the church and had an incredible time of celebration and sharing vision.  We are currently praying and seeking the Lord about next steps for Eagle’s Nest and how He wants us as a church to step into the next incredible season.  We are also looking forward to the amazing things He is unfolding for Liberty Christian Fellowship and our family.

It has been a powerful journey over the last four years here in Delaware.  We have seen people come to Christ, lives transformed, relationships restored, worship be released, and people truly become an authentic biblical community.  Lisa and I have made the best friendships of our lives.  Our children have grown in Christ in powerful ways.  I have grown as a leader and man of God under Pastor Bob’s leadership.  It has truly been a life transforming experience to serve Christ with a church staff that truly loves God and loves one another.  The amazing thing is that we are transitioning and not leaving.  As Pastor Bob, my dad, and I have prayed, we have begun to have a vision for Eagle’s Nest and Liberty sharing in ministry, resourcing one another in various ways, and continuing a relationship that truly represents unity in the body.

So as we make a move in January, we are forever thankful for our Eagle’s Nest family and eager to be about our Father’s business.  So much of our heart will remain here and we pray that so much their heart will go with us.  We are beginning a journey together over these coming days in which we will see the Lord do things that are exceedingly and abundantly above anything we can think or imagine!

Stay tuned, there’s a whole lot more to come!
